FinanceScout24 expands offering with health insurance comparison

The comparison platform FinanceScout24 is expanding its services to include health insurance. Users can now transparently compare providers, calculate premiums or request quotes. For the first time, the digital services offered by insurers via their smartphone apps are also taken into account – such as viewing invoices, tracking reimbursements or checking personal coverage.

Demand for information around switching basic health insurance remains high, driven by rising healthcare costs and sometimes substantial premium differences despite identical statutory benefits. By adding health insurance to its portfolio, FinanceScout24 is directly addressing this need and making the process of changing insurers significantly easier – another step in helping consumers in Switzerland make informed everyday decisions with the support of digital tools.

Transparency, user focus and digital services

Although the benefits of basic health insurance are defined by law, insurers differ in practice – for example in service quality or digital offerings. The FinanceScout24 health insurance comparison therefore does not only take price and benefits into account, but also considers qualitative and technological criteria. A rating scale shows how insurers perform in areas such as accessibility or speed of reimbursement, based on the annual customer satisfaction survey carried out by their partner moneyland.ch. In this context the digital services of health insurers were analysed also for the first time. This evaluation highlights how functional and user-friendly their apps are, for example by enabling users to view invoices and benefit statements, track reimbursements, check their coverage, use the live chat or search for doctors. Especially for digitally savvy target groups – in particular Millennials and Gen Z – such app-based services have become a decisive factor.

Another key focus of the comparison is transparency and neutrality: the ranking is generated independently. Only relevant insurers are displayed, based exclusively on the criteria selected by users.

“We want to make access to insurance products as simple and transparent as possible – independent, data-driven and with a clear focus on users”, says Jochen Pernegger, Managing Director Finance & Insurance at SMG Swiss Marketplace Group. “Feedback and evaluations show that there is demand for more comprehensive comparison options and contemporary evaluation criteria, particularly in the area of digital services. With our health insurance comparison, we are responding to this need, further developing the comparison based on relevant criteria to daily life and helping people make informed decisions.”

Relevance in the current premium phase

The new comparison offering comes at a highly relevant time: yesterday, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) announced the health insurance premiums for 2026. These will rise by an average of 4.4 per cent – with in some cases significant differences between cantons. For many households, switching insurers may again offer significant savings potential. A well-founded comparison is therefore not just helpful, but crucial.

Another step towards a holistic comparison platform

The health insurance comparison complements the existing FinanceScout24 portfolio, which already includes comparisons for loans as well as insurance in the areas of car, motorcycle, household and personal liability. With this new service, FinanceScout24 strengthens its position as a comprehensive insurance and finance comparison platform.
