FinanceScout24 expands health insurance comparison to include supplementary insurance

The comparison portal FinanceScout24 is expanding its existing health insurance comparison to include hospital and outpatient supplementary insurance. This allows users to compare products and individual benefits from different providers in a structured overview – a comparison option that is new to the Swiss market.

While the benefits covered by mandatory basic health insurance in Switzerland are defined by law, supplementary insurance products vary considerably in terms of coverage, scope of benefits and price. The wide range of products available makes it difficult for consumers to compare them directly. FinanceScout24 is therefore expanding its existing basic health insurance comparison to include hospital and outpatient supplementary insurance, providing greater transparency when choosing the right insurance.

Direct comparison of insurance benefits

With the new comparison options, users can filter by benefits in areas such as alternative medicine, dental treatment, preventive care, fertility and baby care, or international travel. Information on multiple insurance products is presented side by side in a structured overview – a form of comparison that has not previously been available in the Swiss market. This makes differences not only in premiums but also in the scope of benefits and coverage directly visible. In addition, insurance products can be filtered according to criteria such as customer satisfaction or insurers’ digital services. Basic and supplementary insurance can be combined in a single search for up to four people in the same household, with corresponding quotes requested at the same time.

“Supplementary insurance products can differ significantly in terms of the scope of benefits and price. Until now, comparing the specific benefits included in individual products required considerable effort,” says Jochen Pernegger, Managing Director Finance & Insurance at SMG Swiss Marketplace Group. “With our new overview, we make these differences visible at a glance. This simplifies the search and gives users a transparent basis for finding the right product for their individual needs.”

With the addition of supplementary insurance, FinanceScout24 is continuing to develop the health insurance comparison launched in 2025, bringing a new approach to the insurance comparison market and strengthening its offering as a comparison platform for insurance and finance.
